Changes in Trivalent Chrome Plating
Tompkins has begun to phase in trivalent chrome plating, beginning in Fall 2006 in order to
stay compliant with The European Union restrictions on the use of certain substances. The
substance of concern is hexavalent chrome used in our current zinc plating.
By January 2007, all parts shipped from our manufacturing facilities will have trivalent chrome.
There will be no increase in price for trivalent chrome, and it will not require any change in
assembly procedures or torque values. There will be improved corrosion resistance.
